Iron Gate Lodge is nestled at the foot hills of the picturesque Henderson heights mountain range in the eastern cape of south Africa. It is said to have taken its name from the two iron stone mountains visible upon entry to the reserve and was believed to be a look out point during the Boer wars, the Thomas river that runs alongside Iron gate promotes excellent Bass and yellow fishing as well as a great variety of birds, the landscape also offers great hiking trails, which take you to the ancient bushmans paintings and stunning views, the lodge is located approx 140km from East London Airport and is situated between the two small towns of, Stutterhiem and Cathcart, accommodation comprises of 4 en-suite chalets and 2 flats and include a beautiful open plan thatched Lodge for your entertainment with bar, dinning area, reading room, television area and large open fireplace and BBQ pits,there is also a lovely swimming pool for those hot days.
